Naturally, Tirol’s summer season is a beacon to travelers who love the great outdoors, with hundreds of miles of hiking trails and mountain bike routes and – what I like best – worthwhile attractions up on the mountains and down in the valleys. However, there’s no summer memory better than those spent “at the lake.” Fortunately, there are many places to dip more than a toe into the water: Tirol’s mountain lakes are just waiting for you and your family to create unforgettable memories. Here I will reveal a couple of the most promising of Tirol lakes for families.

Action Packed: Badesee Hög

#bergsommer2017 #einfachnurtraumhaft #högsee #hotelgarnialpinaserfaus #serfaus #serfausfissladis #tirol #visitaustria ?☀️⛰? A post shared by Hotel Garni Alpina – Serfaus (@hotelgarnialpinaserfaus) on Jun 19, 2017 at 2:23am PDT

Strongly recommended as this mountain lake is embedded in Hög Adventure Park, a place where action packed fun for kids of all ages is guaranteed. The lake itself has a designated area with ankle deep water to splash about. Thanks to its high elevation, this is a great and refreshing place to cool off on a hot summer’s day. Afterwards, hop on an Alpine coaster sled and zoom down the mountain.
Especially for Little Ones: Shallow swimming area, pedal boat rental, a floating island and an array of attractions, such as a water maze, an Alpine coaster, a trampoline, and a wooden ball track to name but a few.
Location: In Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis Region at an elevation of 1,800 meters above sea level.

In All Weathers: Badesee Pitz Park Wenns

Горы, ночь, гроза. A post shared by Ilya Ryzhenkov (@orangyk) on Aug 4, 2013 at 12:17am PDT

Strongly recommended as Pitz Park in Wenns is an exceptional summer destination in all weathers with an array of indoor and outdoor facilities for a fun day out.
Especially for Little Ones: Heated paddling pool, swimming pond for kids, diving platform, raft, adventure playground, indoor play area
Location: At an elevation of 987 meters above sea level.

City Close: Natterer See

Strongly recommended if you prefer to stay close to Innsbruck. Water temperature averages at 22 degrees Celsius and there is lots of family fun that makes it popular with kids (and the young at heart).
Especially for Little Ones: Children’s beach with sand, water slide, water trampoline, inflatable climbing iceberg, kayak instruction.
Location: Natters near Innsbruck at an elevation of 830 meters above sea level.

Recreation Hotspot: Weißlahn Swimming Lake

#tree#hupfen#weisslahnsee#kalt A post shared by Luca Pichler (@l.t.m.p) on Sep 8, 2014 at 12:11pm PDT

Strongly recommended if you bring kids who love to divert the water in the creek and dam it up with rocks, twigs and dirt: This will give them a perfect waterhole for personal enjoyment—and keeps them occupied for hours. The 4.4-hectare recreation hotspot keeps athletic ones satisfied with an array of activities. Moreover, the natural beauty of the lake area is astounding!
Especially for Little Ones: Artificial creek, inflatable island, wooden slides, beach volleyball court, football pitch, tennis court, climbing structures.
Location: South of Terfens at an elevation of 591 meters above sea level.

Serene and Peaceful: Reither See

Strongly recommended if you’re craving a beautiful location to bask in Tirol’s warm rays. With a sunbathing lawn and a designated kids’ zone, Reither See Lake is a beautiful setting for gathering with friends and family. And, this is a lovely place for boating on a warm summer’s day – rowing boats are available for rental…
Especially for Little Ones: Paddling pool, diving platform, kids’ zone.
Location: At the heart of Reith at an elevation of 619 meters above sea level.

Natural and Pristine: Reintaler See

#beautiful#reintalersee A post shared by Stefan (@_stefan_rex) on Aug 15, 2013 at 8:45am PDT

Strongly recommended if you like swimming in warmer water. Known as one of the warmest lakes in Tirol, with summer temperatures ranging up to 25 degrees Celsius, the water at Reintalersee Lake is ideal for swimming. It’s beautiful here in the evening hours. Experienced swimmers can explore the islands in the lake. One of the most fun things to do here are Tarzan like ropes to swing into the water.
Especially for Little Ones: Playground, shallow swimming area for kids, rental boats.
Location: Near Kramsach at an elevation of 520 meters above sea level.

One For All: Kirchberg Swimming Lake

Strongly recommended if you want fun for everyone in a lake and pools, activities and entertainment for everyone in your family. This lake is a favorite for those wanting to relish in the mountain atmosphere of Brixental Valley’s gently rolling grassy hills.
Especially for Little Ones: Ample kids’ area with paddling pool, water slides, diving platforms, rental boats and playground.
Location: Near Kirchberg at an elevation of 837 meters above sea level.

Award-Winning: Going Swimming Lake

Strongly recommended if you like swimming in what is considered Tirol’s most beautiful natural lake — an idyllic spot for scenic lounging near glassy waters and poignant peaks. Its spring-fed water and sandy beaches welcome swimmers to cool off on a hot day. With pristine view of Wilder Kaiser Range, the lake is must if you’re vacationing in the area.
Especially for Little Ones: Shallow swimming area for kids and non-swimmers, slides, pirates‘ cove, playground and ample space to romp about.
Location: At the edge of the forest in Going, at an elevation of 795 meters above sea level.

Strongly recommended because this is my favourite lake in all of Tirol! The dark moor (mud) water is said to have healing properties for the skin—and feels warm and velvety. Towering above the resort of Fieberbrunn, this swamp lake has a picture-postcard setting wrapped along an upland plateau of awesome natural beauty. When you’re not cooling off in the lake, check out the lakeside restaurant’s menu – they also serve fantastic cocktails so you can easily linger a little longer ;-)
Especially for Little Ones: Designated area for kids and non-swimmers, sandpit with fountain, playground, water trampoline.
Location: Above Fieberbrunn at an elevation of 859 meters above sea level.

Tucked Away in Forest: Tristacher See

???? #oschttiroi A post shared by @julia.fsl on Sep 8, 2016 at 4:03am PDT

Strongly recommended as this is East Tirol’s one and only swimming lake. Tristachersee is a gorgeous lake tucked away in forest, surrounded by evergreen-fringed hills. The crystal-clear water reaches temperatures of up to 24 degrees Celsius.
Especially for Little Ones: Shallow swimming area for kids and non-swimmers, playground, diving platform, table football, table tennis
Location: At an elevation of 820 meters above sea level.
